Junior Church is Changing!

Junior Church now reflects the growing number of children and the need to provide more age appropriate activities. This term we have seen the successful start up of the Key Stage 2 group and the 11+ group. These groups will continue but the existing younger age group will be split up as follows:

Little Angels, for pre-school children, will be led by Becky Jenkins and take place in the West End room (where we do Singing with Mary). It will follow a playgroup style format with songs, simple Bible stories, colouring and play. When your child is 4 you can choose whether they remain in Little Angels or “move up” to Climbers which is for ages 4 up to school year 2. This group will take place in part of the main hall and will be parent-led, with a slightly different format than before to accommodate the smaller group. Obviously we realise that this may provide a conflict if you have children in both groups. In that case you are welcome to let your older child go to Climbers on their own (you will just be next door to them) or you may want to leave your younger child with a friend in Little Angels.

The Key Stage 2 group which is now called Explorers (renamed from BasePoint), will take place in the other part of the main hall.

There will be an “altar” in the main hall, just by the door, where the cross and the Bible will be placed to be visible for all groups, so it doesn’t matter which group your child is in, they can still proudly carry the cross or Bible from the main service to Junior Church.

These are exciting times for the children’s worship at St Luke’s!
